What I actually check
Common questions
Short answers. If yours is not here, just run the scorecard and reply to the email.
How is this different from the SEO audit?
The SEO audit grades your website (title tags, mobile speed, schema, etc.). This grades your Google Business Profile, which is the listing that shows up in the Google Maps 3-pack and on the right side of branded searches. Both matter, and they are scored separately. About 60% of small business clicks now come from the local map pack, not the blue links, so this is often the higher-leverage one to fix first.
What if I do not have a Google Business Profile yet?
The scorecard tells you that, and the very first item on the report links you to https://business.google.com to claim one (free). Claiming the listing is the single highest-impact thing a NJ small business can do for local search. Most of the businesses I cold-email have not done this.
What does the score actually mean?
0 to 100, an average across all 12 checks. Above 80 is competitive in most NJ markets. 50 to 80 means you are findable but losing clicks to better-optimized competitors. Below 50 means you are practically invisible in Google Maps. A green/yellow/red badge sits on every individual check so you can prioritize the failing ones first.
Will it actually find my business?
Yes if you have a Google listing. Type the exact business name + the city. If multiple businesses share a name I pick the top Google match. If you have NO listing yet, the scorecard still loads and tells you exactly that (and how to fix it). Either way you get a result.
Do you handle the fixes too?
Optional. The scorecard lists every issue with a plain-English fix so you can do it yourself. If you want me to do it for you (claim/verify the GBP, upload photos, set hours, set up a review-request flow, build a website to link from the profile), that is what the $29 to $99 monthly tiers cover. No setup fee on any of them.
How accurate is the rating + review data?
Pulled directly from Google Places API in real time. The scorecard shows the same number Google shows on your listing. If you update your profile and re-run the scorecard the next day, the score moves accordingly.
